THE Telegraph & Argus has opened this online book of condolence to bring together tributes following the death of a true Bradford legend, Jack Tordoff.

The JCT600 founder died over the weekend following a lengthy illness.

After leaving school at 15 to work as an apprentice mechanic for his father's firm Tordoff Motors, he overhauled the business into a car dealership, which has grown into one of Britain's biggest dealership businesses.

He stayed true to his Bradford roots his whole life, with the firm based in Apperley Bridge and maintaining long ties to Bradford City Football Club.

Alongside the business, he was also a successful rally driver.

Pay your tribute to Jack Tordoff herei joined JCT600 in 1975 working in the Parts Department at the jewel in the crown Rawdon branch selling Saab Datsun and Porsche vehicles i went to school with Ian Jacks eldest son and we soon became good friends one Saturday afternoon after finishing work i was riding my trials bike at the back of the garage on some spare land when i spotted Jack, oh lord i thought i was going to get a real telling off quite the opposite Jack said can i have a ride, he certainly put the bike through its paces working for JCT was to me one long party the very best years of my career, there was a buzz such a great atmosphere can remember just before joining up with the company the enormous grass frontage being entirely covered in new cars when August was the new registration date , not a blade of grass to be seen, wont ever see those days ever again Occasionaly Jack would have a chat to me about the Bradford speedway team as he was interested in most motor sports i looked up to Jack as a father figure but at the same time saw him as a good friend, he will be sorely missed
