THE latest update on the ongoing roadworks at Greengates junction, with work continuing on the southern flank of the scheme.

Work has been ongoing for some time on the major, multi-million pound improvements to the junction of Harrogate Road and New Line, which includes the installation of a new P-loop to ease traffic congestion.

It is being carried out by Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council, who have given their latest monthly update.

Work on Greengates Junction will be ongoing until spring 2022.

The alleyway which runs from Greengates Primary Academy to the war memorial will be closed from Tuesday, October 5 until early 2022.

Surfacing and road realignment works have continued over the last four weeks on the southern flank of New Line, leading from Farmfoods to New Line Retail Park.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The sewer connection has now also been made, meaning the drainage attenuation system is fully operational.

The roadworks team said: "Throughout the next four weeks, work areas will be re-established so that the southern flank of New Line, leading from Farmfoods to New Line Retail Park, can be used for the traffic running lanes and footpaths can be used by pedestrians.

"Following this, we will concentrate our efforts onto the northern flank of the scheme.

"We will be accommodating the diversion of the water main, followed by the diversions required for drainage, low-voltage cables, BT, Virgin Media, street lighting, illuminated street signs, and the underground traffic control system.

"To facilitate these operations we will be carefully deconstructing the walls and railings to QRI and the war memorial.

"Once the required diversions have been completed, the walls will be rebuilt to the new alignment and the refurbished railings refixed.

"Please rest assured that access will be maintained to the memorial at all times, with special measures being put in place to ensure the Remembrance Day memorial can take place without hindrance.

Once complete, these works will allow for the reconfiguring and profiling of the footpaths and roads in this area of the scheme."
