TO support increased demand for children entering care, a fostering organisation is calling on single people in Yorkshire and the Humber to consider fostering.
The UK is currently in need of more than 8,500 foster homes for children and young people. In Yorkshire and the Humber 1,040 foster carers are needed.
A report commissioned by Five Rivers Child Care reveals more than 25% of people in the region are unaware that single people can foster.
With recent data showing there are almost 750,000 single person households in Yorkshire and the Humber, it would take less than 1% of this figure to meet the shortfall.
