REDUNDANCIES are expected following the announcement that Virgin Money is closing nine Yorkshire stores, including those at Keighley and Horsforth.
Virgin Money announced the closure plans as it adapts to changing customer demand, renewing focus on digital services.
The stores will close in early 2022. In addition to the Yorkshire closures, a further 21 UK stores will shut, resulting in a reduction of around 112 full-time equivalent roles across the group.
A review of the ways customers use its stores found the number of customers using branches for day-to-day transactions has been on a downward trajectory for a number of years. This was accelerated by the pandemic.
Fergus Murphy, Group Customer Experience Director at Virgin Money said: “As our customers conduct fewer transactions in-store, we must continue to evolve and bring our digital services to life.”
The 32 Town Street, Horsforth, store will close January 21,/2022 and 73 North Street, Keighley, store will close on January 19.
