BRADFORD man Chris Orant is also set to tackle two marathons this month as he raises money for charity in memory of his mum.

Chris, who is from Saltaire, has been fundraising for the Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool marathon on October 24 to raise money for Marie Curie, who looked after his mum Elizabeth Orant, who died of a brain tumour ten years ago.

“Liverpool was originally my first marathon but I had a last-minute opportunity to run the London Marathon,” said Chris. “I’ll get that done and soak in the atmosphere. London is one of the biggest marathons in the world, so I couldn’t say no.

“It will be really good for me and will definitely be a good memory.”

Chris, who described himself as an amateur runner, only got into running just over two years ago.

“I couldn’t even run three miles,” said Chris. “But this is something I wanted to do because it would have made my mum proud.”

Chris, 31, said his mum died of a brain tumour in February 2011.

“She was the most kind, caring and lovely person. She always took a genuine interest in what you were doing. She was so supportive.

“Marie Curie dealt with her end of life care and they did such a fantastic job.

“So I started planning for the Liverpool Marathon over a year ago, and I’ve been very focused and motivated to do it.”
