A BRADFORD-BASED charity has received a huge donation.

Age UK Bradford District gained a grant of £5,000 from Sovereign Health Care’s Community Programme to support increased demands on their work during the pandemic.

The money will allow the charity to continue its important work with older people in the district.

The charity has been working in the local community to help older people for over 25 years.

They have six Community Hubs - focusing on the specific needs of older people in the diverse communities.

Sovereign Health Care has no shareholders, so any surplus the company makes is available to reinvest into the business or donate to community and charitable good causes through its Community Programme.

Mark Rounding, CEO at Age UK Bradford District, explains how vital this support from a local business is.

He said: “The pandemic is not over and the demand for supporting older people in the coming months is expected to continue to rise.

"We are slowly reopening our face to face support, activities and groups and this donation will contribute to the resources needed to reach the people that need our support.

"Connecting with local businesses is key in the ongoing work we do with older people in Bradford District and I’d like to thank Sovereign Health Care for this donation.”

Russ Piper, Chief Executive of Sovereign Health Care, added: "Age UK Bradford District plays an important role in the city, and it’s rewarding to know our donation will contribute towards their invaluable resources and support."
