A BRADFORD district MP has called on people to stop panic buying petrol, amid a shortage.

Shipley MP Philip Davies says there are comparisons between the panic buying of petrol across the country to the shortage of toilet rolls in shops at the start of the pandemic last year.

Petrol stations across the Bradford district are closing their pumps, while others have queuing vehicles outside.

Mr Davies added the fuel shortage is also a 'living nightmare' for those who care for others and have to rely on their vehicles to do so.

He said: "What has caused the fuel shortage is panic buying.

"The national media should be ashamed of themselves. They have stoked this crisis with sensationalist reporting.

At some point people have to stop panic buying

"It was the same situation with petrol that it was with toilet roll buying at the start of the pandemic.

"There is nothing the government can do to solve it. The only solution lies in the hands of people not panic buying."
