A PILOT living near Skipton who recently took part in a charity paddle with friends across Scottish lochs, has found one of the videos he took while navigating Loch Ness has gone viral after he appeared to innocently capture a moving image of the elusive 'Nessie', the Loch Ness Monster.

Richard Mavor, who enjoys wild camping and outdoor adventures, had been taking part in the Great Glen Canoe Challenge to raise money for the Alzheiner's Society.

He took several videos through his drone and camera and loaded the footage to his website richardoutdoors.com and Richard Outdoors on YouTube channel.

Soon after some eagle-eyed viewers noticed one video which showed something large appearing to be beneath the water of Loch Ness, quite near the shoreline which was lined canoes.

Mr Mavor had videoed the area from his drone and was unaware of the mystery creature until it was pointed out to him.

He said: "I was filming with my drone on our first camp on the shore of Loch Ness and included a descending drone shot of our location. Unbeknownst to me, there is what appears to be a grainy ’Nessie’ shape approaching the shoreline near the canoes."

Mr Mavor said he was 'amazed' at the images and had watched the clip many times.

He has since been inundated by the media.

The aerial video of the loch where viewers spotted the shape heading towards the shore can be seen at around four minutes in.
