A PARENT has been left enraged after their child's year group at a Bradford school was put into a bubble.

Year 4 at Drighlington Primary School are unable to eat their lunch in the dinning room, attend assemblies and go swimming following a few pupils testing positive for Covid-19.

The T&A have seen emails sent out to parents saying the school have spoken to Leeds City Council Health and Safety Team and agreed an Outbreak Management Plan, meaning a bubble has been put in place as a temporary measure.

The pupils will have lunch in their classrooms and play in their playground area, in their own zone, as normal. Assuming there are no further cases, the school hope swimming can go ahead next Friday.

However, the school did warn that any further cases in the year group within the next few days will result in remote learning, as agreed with the local authority. If that happened, the return date would be Friday, October 1.

The parent said: "It's a very sad state of affairs when the country is back to normal. It's making the children feel even more isolated."

In a later letter, the school confirmed that, while they are monitoring cases, all year groups will function in bubbles, with no assemblies, singing or swimming.

Children will be sent home if they are unwell or have one Covid symptom. This follows GOV.UK guidance.

When approached by the T&A, Head Teacher Sue Jackson said: "We have seen a rise in the number of cases in school, and parents of all year groups have been informed.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely with the support of Leeds City Council’s Health and Safety Team, and will take the appropriate measures as necessary to ensure the safety of pupils and staff while in school."
