AFTER a male was arrested in Wibsey on suspicion of theft from a vehicle, a police inspector called on the community to take steps to secure their valuables and report the incidents.

Inspector Thornton, of the Bradford South Neighbourhood Police Team, said officers arrested a male on suspicion of theft from motor vehicle that occurred in the Wibsey area on Sunday.

This male was interviewed and has subsequently been released on bail to allow further enquiries to continue.

Inspector Thornton said: "We are aware and concerned about the recent increase in theft from motor vehicles that have occurred in Wibsey and surrounding areas and are working hard to investigate and identify suspects for these offences.

"Our communities play an important role in this. You can do this by firstly taking simple crime prevention steps such as securing vehicles and ensuring valuables are removed when their vehicles are left unattended and secondly by reporting such instances to the police so we can ensure we are following all possible lines of enquiry.
