AFTER nine months of filming and two exclusive launches, the Bradford film that is creating conversation nationally is set to be released for the public.

Young in Covid can be watched on YouTube from 1pm on Friday September 24.

The film focuses on the stories of young people across Bradford and how the pandemic affected them.

At a community launch, earlier this month, Nataline Mudd, one of the young people featured in the film, said: “Our stories are worth telling but we didn’t have a platform.

“In the height of the pandemic nobody wanted to listen to our struggles and what we were going through.

“We kept getting told that we were young and that we could get through it.”

The film has had an overwhelmingly positive response with community and faith leaders working to tackle the issues mentioned.

Sofia Buncy, DL, Sofia Buncy DL, national co-ordinator at the Khidmat Centre said: “People overestimated the physical and emotional resilience of young people in the pandemic.

“This film is raw and uncensored because that’s what young people are like, they tell it as is.”

The film was made on a budget of 1000 pounds and through the goodwill of organisation such as Manningham House and Mary Magdalane CiC.

Young in Covid captures is a piece of legacy work that show the struggles of young people through the pandemic.

Ms Buncy said: “We risked our lives for this because if we didn’t capture this footage and make this film nobody would have.

“These young voices need to be heard, and many will resonate with them.”

“This is grass roots activism, and this film shows the reality of young people in the pandemic.

“We now need to find ways to support them and help get their lives on track.”
