THERE has been a fall in the number of patients with Covid-19 being treated in Bradford's hospitals.

The latest figures released by the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) show a total of 63 patients across Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Airedale.

The number of patients has fallen from 58 to 50 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, and fallen by two at Airedale from 15 to 13.

A WYAAT spokesperson said yesterday: "Since the end of May, when there were 42 Covid-19 patients across the six hospital trusts that work together as WYAAT, figures released today (23/9) show there are 292 people receiving treatment across our hospitals. Twenty eight of those are currently in intensive care units.

"While that only represents one less in-patient compared to last week's figures there has been a significant 30 per cent reduction in the number of those patients requiring intensive care treatment.

"Hospitals are still treating significant numbers of patients and with this additional demand it means we have to prioritise those in the most urgent medical need.

"This means the time you may wait at an emergency department for more minor treatment could be impacted and you may have to wait longer than anticipated."
