LABOUR leader of Kirklees council denies rumours of Lords Peerage prospects.
Councillor Pandor highlighted that this rumour was in fact fake news.
Speculation of this title began in the run-up to the by-election, where Councillor Pandor was put on a list for potential candidates for the Labour party.
After Kim Leadbeater was selected as the Labour party candidate, Councillor Pandor gave her full support, which she then went on to win, becoming the Constituency’s MP.
In a Council Cabinet meeting on September Councillor Martyn Bolt (Con, Mirfield) said: "May I be the first to offer you congratulations.
"I believe in the not-too-distant future you may be elevated to the House of Lords if what we're told is correct.
“So, I'd like to congratulate you if that's appropriate."
Councillor Pandor replied: "Before we start let me put that rumour to bed once and for all.
"I have not been 'elevated' nor have I been approached by anybody whatsoever for the House of Lords."
Councillor Pandor added: “"Sometimes rumours start, and they become news.
"But in this case, it's completely fake.”
