THERE were major delays on a motorway this morning after a crash.
The collision happened on the eastbound carriageway of the M62, just before junction 29 (M1, Lofthouse).
It was first reported at 6.20am, according to the AA.
Traffic on the motorway was held initially while emergency services swiftly moved the vehicles involved in the crash off the main carriageway.
All lanes reopened shortly after, but there was still major congestion in the area for a couple of hours.
Vehicles were queueing all the way back to junction 27 (M621, Gildersome) on the eastbound carriageway at its peak.
The congestion was adding an extra 40 minutes onto normal journey times.
Traffic was also slow on the westbound carriageway due to onlookers.
But the congestion began easing at 8.24am.
