A BRADFORD community centre is launching a brand new fibromyalgia support group tomorrow.
The Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre will be hosting the sessions on every fourth Wednesday of each month from 10.30am-12.00 noon.
The centre decided to launch the group after reading about new findings and research which said that fibromyalgia is a common illness affecting people of all ages, races and economic levels.
With 14,000 people diagnosed per year, it's prompted recent debates in parliament to press for more support.
The group will offer information and support as well as pain management and resilience techniques.
People are invited to come along to form support networks and share advice. Admission is £2.00 with refreshments included.
The Fibromyalgia Support Group is part of The Holistic Reach Programme delivered by the community centre and is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Sharon, Project Worker at the centre, said: “We're really looking forward to welcoming people to the new Fibromyalgia Support Group tomorrow and are hopeful they will form some solid support networks.
"We really want this to be a group-led project but will be on-hand to offer advice, information and support as well as introducing pain management and resilience techniques.
"Of course, we're really grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund and the National Lottery players for making this project possible."
