A GROUND engineering and construction company has expanded with the opening of a new office in Yeadon as a hub for the North.

Akela Group, which is headquartered in Glasgow, has hit a key milestone in its plan for expansion into the English market by moving into new premises next to Leeds Bradford Airport.

The company selected Moorfield Business Park to act as a hub in the North of England as it rolls out its expansion plans.

The new Leeds team is led by construction manager, Martin Leahy, who has more than 15 years industry experience delivering high-value projects for complex builds across a diverse range of sectors.

Further plans to expand the new Yeadon-based team are expected as operations continue to grow and develop in the coming months.

Having quickly established the new base, Akela Ground Engineering, part of the Akela Group, has already successfully completed its first contract at Knaresborough and is currently tendering for a variety of new housing and commercial build contracts throughout Yorkshire.
