A MAN and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a firearms discharge in Huddersfield earlier this week.

The incident occurred at 9.04pm on Tuesday night when police received reports of a male who had been injured following an alleged firearms discharge outside a takeaway on Blacker Road, Birkby.

Officers attended and found a 28-year-old male with minor injuries to his shoulder consistent with a firearms discharge. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

The man, 31, and woman, 33, who were arrested this morning, join two previous arrests - a 29-year-old male arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 53-year-old female arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender - who also remain in police custody.

Detectives are continuing with enquiries into the incident and are still appealing to members of the public who may have any information to come forward.
