THE Wetherby club headed west on Saturday afternoon to the scenic Grimwith Reservoir where the seventh Norman Crooks Championship trial took place.

Only thirty seven competitors signed on to ride a ten section four lap course and watch the sailing dinghys down on the reservoir.

The dry conditions yielded low scores in all four classes. The Sherco 'twins' Phil Hammond and Phil Hardisty ruled the Green course tracked by Vertigo rider Chris Laws. Needless to report Fellbeck farmer Norman Shepherd got his Bantam round with a clean ride.

Danny Gamble won the hard course class well in front of Elliott Laws and Anthony Ayrton leaving daughter Lucy to ride her TRS in the Youth where Mason Carter nailed the top spot with a cracking ride.

Norman Shepherd did the clean ride on the easy route where Pontefract regular Ian Brogden and sidecar passenger Les Ashby go round on a dab. Les had his boot down in section one on lap one. The Club run again on September

26 at North Close Farm, Kirkby Malzeard starting at 10.30 am.
