TWO lanes of a major motorway were closed after a crash this morning.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the M62, between junction 30 (A642, Rothwell) and junction 29 (M1, Lofthouse).

It was first reported at 6.59am, according to the AA.

Lanes one and two (of four) were shut while the crash was dealt with.

All lanes reopened at 8.29am.

At its peak, traffic was stretching back beyond junction 31 (Castleford).

This was adding 20 minutes onto normal journey times.
