BRADFORD Council has extended the deadline for public consultation on plans to completely transform swathes of the city centre.

The consultation into the Transforming Cities Fund has been extended by two weeks from the original deadline, to now close on September 22.

The original deadline was September 8.

The work will see streets including Hall Ings and Market Street pedestrianised, the creation of a new road on Well Street, a new cycle route up Thornton Road, the demolition of the NCP garage on Hall Ings to create a new entrance to Bradford Interchange, and the formation of a Park and Ride linking the to the city centre via Manchester Road.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Planning & Transport at Bradford Council, said: “We recognise that it’s been a really busy time for people as we come out of the summer holidays and kids get back to school.

What is the "Transforming Cities Fund" and what will it mean for Bradford?

"We’re really keen to ensure that people of all ages and backgrounds have the opportunity to have their say and so we’re extending the public consultation to ensure everyone has a chance to contribute their views.

“Our proposals represent some of the most ambitious we’ve brought forward for transport in the district and so we would encourage as many people as possible to feedback and help to shape these once-in-a-generation proposals.

"By consulting with as many members of the public as possible, we will be able to deliver the schemes to their best potential.”
