A FOURTH school in Bradford has been hit by an outbreak of Covid-19 since pupils returned last week.

Low Ash Primary School in Wrose has a confirmed outbreak of the virus, and Bradford Council said it is supporting the school in handling the cases.

One parent said there has been a number of cases in Year 6 at the school, but wasn't sure on the number of children affected.

It follows reports so far this week of cases at three other schools: Shirley Manor in Wyke, Wilsden Primary and Wibsey Primary.

This is just the second week schools have been back following the summer holidays.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The school has had some positive cases.

"The school has measures in place to minimise the risk of infection spreading.

"We continue to provide support to schools all across the district at this difficult time.

"It’s important that we all work together to stop the spread of the virus.

“Any school children with symptoms should take a PCR test.

"If the test is positive they must isolate for 10 days. If the test is negative and they feel well, they should attend school.”

The cases follow fears that the return of schools would trigger a rise in infections, similar to what was seen last month in Scotland when children returned to education.
