CHILDREN aged between 12-15 can now be offered one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, to help reduce disruption to education.
School closures are less likely to take place, however face-face learning could be affected as anyone testing positive has to isolate for 10 days.
The health gains from vaccinating this group are said to be greater than the risks involved.
Through a school vaccination service, the vaccine will be rolled out after parental consent has been given.
The decision was made on Monday, after four Chief Medical Officers recommended.
The jab is not mandatory, but it is said to benefit the age group by prioritising their education.
This comes as Boris Johnson is set to highlight his Winter plan tomorrow, where a Winter lockdown could still be on the cards.
