THE T&A want to find the relatives of an RAF officer who died during World War Two after a memorial was set up in his name.

On April 29, 1945, Warrant Officer Eric William Skelton (1219664) of the RAF Volunteer Reserve, 22, whose parents, George and Charlotte, were from Shipley, was on board a Wellington aircraft of 105 O.T.U, Transport Command, which crashed.

The aircraft was on the final leg of a training flight which began from its base at Nuneaton. It was flying to Nutt's Corner in Belfast, then back to base.

On its way back, the plane encountered a heavy snow storm leading it to crash into Moccas Park at the top of Dorstone Hill, killing all six air crew members (five British and one Australian).

On August 15, 2021, a Memorial Service & Dedication of a Commemoration Stone took place to honour the crew members.

The unveiling of the memorial was by RAF and RAAF representatives.

Relatives of Eric could not be found to let them know about the service.
