A FIRE at an engineering works in Cleckheaton started after last night's heavy rain leaked into the building causing an electrical until to burst into flames.
Crews from Cleckheaton, Bradford, Odsal and Rastrick fire stations were called at 7.45pm Thursday to the engineerig works on Rawfolds Way, Cleckheaton.
Darren Haley, watch commander from Cleckheaton Fire Station, said: "The fire was caused by floodwater leaking through the roof on to a consumer unit.
"There were a small number of people in the building at the time. They heard a bang and seen the flames. They immediately evacuated the building and called 999.
"It was only a small fire and we used dry powder to exinguish it because it was an electrical fire.
"We had to isolate the electrics and ventilate the building by using a positive pressure unit to blast air into the factory.
"It was quite a job clearing the smoke because it was big open plan building with a high roof."
