PEOPLE were advised to keep their doors and windows closed following a chemical spill at a factory in Ossett last night.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 6:37pm we received reports of a chemical spillage at a plant on Healey Road, Ossett.
"Four fire engines (from Ossett, Dewsbury, Cleckheaton and Mirfield) and supporting appliances attended the scene to contain the chemical.
"Crews in breathing appartus and gas tight suits dealt with the incident.
"As a precaution, we advised people to keep doors and windows closed."
A spokesperson from Cleckheaton Fire Station said: "We assisted with the chemical spill, but were on stand by as a hazardous materials team cleaned it up."
Late last night, the fire service also provided the following update: "The incident at Healey Mills in Ossett is concluded.
"Crews have isolated the leak and made safe. We are handing the site back to the site operators.
"Thank you for your patience as we dealt with this incident."
