MANNINGHAM fundraiser Nazim Ali is making his final preparations to run the Great North Run this Sunday.

Nazim has been training despite a niggling calf injury but is confident he will complete the 13.1 mile course.

He is raising money in aid of the Malawi Goat Appeal through Green Crescent Aid UK, and in memory of Mohammed Haider Rasab, the nine-year-old son of his childhood friend Rasab Yaqoob who died of cancer last month.

"This is my first run after a three-month injury lay-off after injuring my calf during my 8th annual Ramadan 10K run in May," said Nazim.

"I am raising money for the Malawi Goat Appeal. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and many of its people live in impoverished conditions.

"Help me donate living goats to provide the milk needed to balance nutritional needs along with providing long-term livestock.

"Each goat costs just £25 and donors will receive full feedback in either pictures or videos. I will be covering all the associated costs - race fees, hotel, travel and food, so that 100 per cent of donations goes to the cause."

Nazim, who runs under the slogan 'giving up is not an option' put a target of £2,500 to raise, but has already surpassed that and the total stands at more than £4,300 with more money coming in each day.

He has worked with Green Crescent Aid UK for more than two years and has personally witnessed their charitable work on the ground during a self-funded trip to Malawi in 2019.

Nazim has raised over £425,000 for good causes both at home and abroad in the past 24 years and regularly donates gifts to children in hospital in Bradford and Airedale during Ramadan and at Easter and Christmas.
