DARAGH SPAWFORTH smashed in nine goals as Bradford Bulldogs Under-13s enjoyed a winning finale to their Planet Ice Cup campaign against Kingston Sharks.
The Bulldogs came out 16-4 winners under the mercy rule, the second period proving the most decisive in Sunday’s clash when the hosts plundered eight of their goals.
The Bulldogs were 3-0 up after the first after Danny Harrison (4+3) got the ball rolling in the seventh minute, with Spawforth firing home his first two of the afternoon.
Spawforth added three more in the middle period, with Frank O’Sullivan (4+4) bagging a couple and William Durgan (1+4), Jake Wigginton (2+4) and Harrison also finding the net, with Bulldogs’ defenceman Ed Donovan (0+1) weighing in with his first assist of the competition.
Kingston got on the scoresheet in the middle period through Lucas Cockerline and a double from Dylan Smith to make it 11-3 after 30 minutes.
In the third, Spawforth again led the way with four more goals, with both O’Sullivan and Harrison grabbing a couple more apiece.
Wigginton struck his second of the game, while Kieran Smith (1+1) also got in on the act. Felix Sorensen and Matthew Peckett responded for the visitors.
On Saturday, the Under-18s travelled to Leeds to take on Kingston Sharks where they lost 10-2.
