A LOCAL pub was named the best in Yorkshire last night at the National Pub and Bar Awards Grand Final held in London.

The Shibden Mill Inn, based in Blake Hill on the banks of Shibden Brook, just outside Northowram beat four other pubs from across Yorkshire and the Humber to claim the top prize for the region.

It was named West Yorkshire’s best pub or bar earlier this summer, with all the county winners invited to a glitzy ceremony held at 30 Euston Square in London last night, hosted by Pub & Bar Magazine.

Pub & Bar Magazine said: "West Yorkshire’s Shibden Mill Inn is officially the Yorkshire and the Humber Pub & Bar of the Year!

"It’s a cracking destination pub and cherished community hub. Very well deserved!"

The Yorkshire prize is the latest jewel in the crown for the celebrated Shibden Mill Inn.

The 17th Century inn, offers a wide range of acclaimed food and drinks, and also boasts 11 unique bedrooms as a four-star hotel.

Its accommodation is rated five-stars by the AA, and it also has two AA rosettes for its dining, making it stand out as one of the best locations for food in West Yorkshire.

It has mouth-watering lunch, a la carte, taster, Sunday lunch and breakfast menus, served alongside an extensive range of real ales, wines and spirits.

Last night, the 15 regional winners were revealed from across the UK, before the overall National Pub and Bar of the Year was revealed, as well as the year’s top Taproom, Pub Chef, Pub Brand, Bar Brand and Bartender of the Year.

The top prize went to Galvin Green Man in Chelmsford, named the best pub in the UK.

JD Wetherspoons, which runs five pubs in the Bradford district as well as five more in the local area, was named Pub Brand of the Year.

The awards are run in partnership by the National Pub and Bar Awards, UK Hospitality, Pub & Bar and Cask Marque, supported by sponsors including Coca-Cola, Kegstar, Quorn and Havana Club.
