A PROGRAMME of road works is to be carried out on the M606, starting this month.

Highways England has announced an order for temporary traffic restrictions on the motorway from junction 2 to junction 3 to enable road stud renewal and associated works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Monday 27 September 2021 for 12 weeks nights, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The effect of the order will be to close, at times during the works, the M606:

* Northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 2 (Euroway) to its junction with the A6177 Chase Way, a distance of 1950 metres;

* Southbound carriageway from its junction with the A6177 Chase Way to the entry slip road at Junction 2, a distance of 1950 metres;

* Northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 3 (Staygate) to its junction with the A6177 Chase Way, a distance of 545 metres;

* Northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Junction 3; and

* Northbound and southbound exit slip roads at Junction 2.

During the closures, signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary to impose at times during the works a temporary 50mph speed limit on the M606 northbound carriageway from the exit sip road at Junction 2 to its junction with the A6177 Chase Way, a distance of 1,950 metres.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency services vehicles, traffic officer vehicles or vehicles used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes).

* Bradford Council has announced traffic restrictions on Tong Street slip road for electrical works to be carried out.

The order will affect the length of Tong Street from its junction with Factory Street to its junction with Compton Street.

Alternative routes for traffic affected will be available via Tong Street (unaffected section), Rook Lane, Rooley Lane and vice versa. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The proposed order will come into effect at 8am on September 11 until 6pm on September 12 and continue from 8am on September 18 until 6pm hours on September 19 and at 8am on September 25 until 6pm on September 26.

* Bradford Council has announced traffic restrictions on Carr Bottom Road in Greengates for telecommunication works to take place.

The order will affect the length of Carr Bottom Road from its junction with New Line to its junction with Bateson Street.

Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected will be available via New Line, Elder Street, Ash Grove, Carr Bottom Road (unaffected section) and vice versa. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The proposed order will come into effect at 9pm on September 14 until 6am hours on September 15 and continue in effect at 9pm hours on September 15 until 6am hours on September 16.
