A BRADFORD woman is vying to win a national modelling competition.

Maria Beckwith, who is the reigning Classic Miss Bradford, is taking part in the national final of the Classic Miss British Isles 2020/21 Model Competition.

The national final takes place tomorrow at The Final Furlong Marquee at Chester Racecourse in Chester.

The judges look through the huge number of entries that the competition attracts every year.

Maria, who is a former Filipino beauty queen, will represent Bradford at the national final as one 50 contestants.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

She is doing extra work on films like ‘Stay Close’ and has been selected to take part in photoshoots and catwalk shows. She also studies full time at Leeds Trinity University studying English Language and Linguistics.

If Maria claims the national title, she will win a host of prizes including a modelling and influencer contract and a photoshoot for her and her family.

Maria will be up against finalists from across the British Isles at tomorrow's event.

She will be required to take part in a professional photo-shoot prior to the final and then a catwalk show at the final which is in front of the judges and the winner is announced on the day.

Previous winners of Miss British Isles organised events have gone on to be signed by top modelling agencies, taken part in major TV shows and even appeared in a Bollywood film.

The Miss and Mr British Isles finals take place over four days in September.

The Miss titles include Little, Junior, Junior-Teen, Teen, Miss, Elegance and Classic.

There is also a Mr British Isles competition.
