BRADFORD and Bingley face their penultimate Bradford League fixture against Methley this weekend and they will be relieved to have the pressure off them.

Going into the final two league fixtures against Methley and Pudsey St Lawrence, the Bradford side will be able to go into the fixtures with the knowledge that they won't be relegated and it will give Ed Brown's side the chance to finish on a high.

At the beginning of the campaign, Brown spoke to the T&A and expressed his desire for his side to finish in the top four of the division, however they currently find themselves in eighth going into the tail end of the season.

Although they may not have reached their initial goals, Bradford and Bingley have escaped a possible relegation and Brown feels they must look at the positives.

He said: "There is definitely a bittersweet feeling when looking back at the season as a whole.

"We did have much higher ambitions than we've ended up with.

"But unfortunately, throughout the season we've had to deal with a number of injuries and with players getting Covid, so we did find ourselves in a bit of a relegation battle but it's nice going into the last couple of games with no pressure and knowing that we are safe from the drop.

"We can go now enter the last two fixtures knowing that we can have a bit of fun and go out there and enjoy ourselves."

When asked about the positives his side can take from this campaign, Brown was quick to praise the youth showing within the team.

He said: "I think one of the biggest things to take from this season is how many lads from our junior side have been given the opportunity to make the step up to the first team.

"We've six youngsters make the step up throughout the campaign, while two have been consistently in the first team so it's a great positive for us looking ahead to the future.

"I feel extremely positive about the future with these young kids coming through."

Bradford and Bingley will be hoping to to finish the season strongly and this weekend Brown's side take on Methley at home.

He said: "We want to win both remaining fixtures now, firstly this weekend against Methley.

"In an ideal world, we might get 40 points and we may jump a couple of places in the table but if the last thing that you remember during the winter is those two victories at the end of the campaign, then it may gloss over the rest of the season which hasn't been as good as we'd hoped.

"It will be a tough game against Methley but we are confident we can end on a good note and then move into next season on a high."
