THE Leader of Bradford Council said plans to transform a West Yorkshire bus station will "make it easier to move around the region".

People are being invited to find out more about a consultation on plans to transform Huddersfield Bus Station at two online events next week.

Proposals to improve the bus station are part of a £32 million package of transport improvements in the town being delivered by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Kirklees Council.

Plans for the bus station include better passenger facilities and access, and new cycle storage.

Environmentally friendly measures, such as solar panels to make the bus station more energy efficient, are also being considered.

The free online events, which are part of a public consultation, will take place from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 1, and from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, September 3.

Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee and Leader of Bradford Council, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Kirklees Council on this important scheme, which will make it easier for people to move around our region more sustainably.”

The consultation is open until Sunday, September 12.
