THE Bradford district is full of great cafes and now is your chance to let people know which one is the best, as the Telegraph and Argus is launching the T&A Best Cafe competition.

Whether it serves a fantastic latte, delicious sandwich or is a great place to hang out because of its eclectic atmosphere, let us know and nominate your favourite.

The competition is latest one the T&A is running to highlight the fantastic number of businesses there are in the region.

Lauren Wood, marketing executive at the Telegraph and Argus, is looking forward to the Best Cafe competition.

Lauren said: "There are a lot of good cafes out there in Bradford and I think this will be healthy competition between them all.

She said that residents from across the district go to their favourite cafes for different reasons. "Sometimes they just like to sip their favourite latte or they might choose one in an area they like to visit.

"Some people like a busy cafe where they can people watch and others like a calm place where they can go to relax and unwind.

"People go to cafes for these reasons, and of course, for the food and drink.

"For a lot of people it's the only time they get out in a week. For them, it's social occasion.

"People see cafes as a good spot for a catch up. They're nice for these kind of things.

"For others a visit to the cafe gels people's weekends together.

"When they haven't seen their friends in so long, it keeps them going."

Getting out to socialise in a place like a cafe can also be particularly important for people who have cooped up inside for so long because of lockdown restrictions.

The easing of restrictions in July has allowed people to get back together with friends and family.

Lauren said: "It's all about having that time to do things.

"People feel good about going out and it's great for them to see their friends."

The T&A Best Cafe competition is the latest in a number of competitions we have run recognising the great businesses we have in the Bradford district.

In the past year, some of the competitions we have run have included Best Eat Out to Help Out, Best Fish and Chip Shop, Best Pub and most recently, Best Hair Salon.

"People get so excited to get involved with these competitions," said Lauren.

"We've had a really positive response to them,

"We can get thousands of nominations and sometimes we've had 3,000 to 4,000 nominations for one place.

"They're really popular," Lauren added.
