A lorry driver from Shipley has won a prize worth £80,000 after he entered an online competition.

Carl Potter, a father-of-two, paid £1.65 for his ticket on BOTB, a luxury car giveaway website, and said he never in a million years expected to win.

It was the first time he had ever used the website after hearing his friends talk about it at work.

He said: “I can’t believe it, this is the first time I’ve ever played BOTB. I played for the van because I’ve been wanting to change my car for a van for a while now and I saw that one on the line-up and loved it.

“I’ve heard the lads at work talk about it and I thought I’m going to give that a go - I never thought Christian would be calling me!”

Carl ‘scooped’ a £61,000 MS-RT Custom Transit plus £20,000 in cash, which he said he is going to use the money to pay off his mortgage and help his daughters get on to the property ladder.

He added: “I’ll be using some to pay off the bills and the rest will go towards the family - and of course I’ve got to buy the lads at work a drink, too!”

“I’ve driven thousands of miles in my career and I can’t wait to drive some more in this, thank you so much BOTB!”

Christian, who surprises the BOTB winners each week, said: “Carl must be the luckiest guy in Yorkshire to win on his first attempt! He played for an amazing prize and I’m super happy for him. Massive congratulations again!”

BOTB hands over the keys to two stunning cars each week as well as the lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to the Arctic, and £15,000 in cash.

The company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £44m worth of cars so far.
