A pub in Keighley will be holding several events over the bank holiday weekend to celebrate the summer and the slow return to normality.

The Livery Rooms in Keighley wants to get the community together and support local businesses, whilst showcasing their beer garden that was completed just before the pandemic.

There will be an ale and gin festival, a farmers market and a family fun day in the pub's garden, whilst they aim to raise money for their chosen charity, CLIC Sargent.

Sophie Taylor, Manager of Livery Rooms said: “We want to get people out there and supporting local businesses. We thought it’s something different that we haven’t done before, and we want to help the community as well as us as a pub. It’s just helping everybody really and people feel a bit safer outside, so we want to showcase our garden that no one really saw during the pandemic.”

“With Keighley being such a small community and everybody knows each other and everyone wants to make Keighley a success, we want to be involved in that.”

“The pandemic hit everyone really hard so we’re trying to build the morale back up for staff and the locals whilst raising money for charity.“

The pub will hold an all-day ale festival on Friday August 27 and offer samples of ales from local breweries.

The ale festival will also mark the beginning of the Livery Room’s ale loyalty scheme which will involve a raffle and offer a number of prizes to regular ale drinkers including CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) memberships and a tour of a local brewery.

On Saturday August 28, there will be a market in the beer garden, with stalls offering fresh produce and handmade items from local businesses such as Kindred Bizarre, and MagnifiScents and Soaps.

The proceeds of the stalls will be donated to CLIC Sargent.

There will also be activities for children to get involved with at the event, such as face painting by Keighley-based Kim’s Funky Faces and tombola prizes to be won.

A gin festival will be taking place on Saturday evening where there will be brand new gin flavours and brands on sale, as well as nibbles and the opportunity to win prizes.

Sophie added that if this event is a success, it will be something they look at doing regularly.
