AFTER its opening a little over two weeks ago, customers have been having their say on the new Taco Bell restaurant in Greengates, with mixed reviews.

The new Mexican-themed fast-food outlet opened its doors on August 9, replacing a KFC which closed at the site in Harrogate Road.

Announcing the opening, Taco Bell UK’s Lucy Dee said “Bradford has been crying out for more Taco Bells”, however judging by some of the reviews so far not everyone in the area seems to agree.

Triggering the debate in the Facebook group Greengates Matters was one particularly scathing review of the menu, with others chipping in to agree or defend the restaurant in lively debate.

Rob Sturrs posted in the group: “Well I’ve had my first and last Taco Bell.

“Two tacos with probably a teaspoon of meat in each… asked for chicken and beef but not sure which was which as it wasn’t enough to taste over the ton of salad.

“Pepsi Max was alright I suppose but wanted a strawberry freeze so didn’t really get that right! Can’t see them being open for long.”

A number of people agreed with Mr Sturrs review, with Maureen Lowther agreeing her meal was “all salad”.

Heather Smith said: “If it was from Greengates it’s certainly nothing like the usual Taco Bell!

“Try the one in town you will see the difference. I tried the Greengates one and won’t be going again.”

Sarah Jane added: “We got it [the] other nyt (sic) and [when] it came [I] cudnt (sic) even eat it, it looked horrid and kids didn’t eat there’s.”

Donna Marie Atkins said: “We had one the other night it was ridiculous, think the other half ended up with a kids wrap.

“We won’t be going back rather use one in town, at least portions are reasonable.”

Janine Sheard also complained, saying: “My daughter and her girlfriend ordered last week and the order was wrong.

“They gave them another try with it being new and have just gone through the drive through this evening to again be given something completely different.

“When they pointed it out, they were told ‘oh yeah, we didn't have what you ordered’ but they hadn't given them an option of choosing something else, just put something different in the order.

“Hopefully they'll look at people's feedback and put things in place to make their processes better, would like to see it work out for them with it being a new franchise.”

Lyndsey Warrior added: “First and last time for me tonight too. Order wrong but only two cars in the drive through it ain’t hard is it.”

The restaurant currently has a rating of 3.5 stars out of five from 16 reviews on Google, while on JustEat the rating is 3.3 out of six from 64 reviews.

Some people did however jump to the defence of the new restaurant.

Natalie Louise said: “A tad harsh guys, they have just opened and yes they have inexperienced staff that's obvious. I'll be giving them another chance.”

Ahsiarok Oohtun added: “I ordered last night and had it delivered through JustEat. Everything came, it was hot and delicious, and I want it again.”

Niki Kemp said: “Had a banging Taco Bell with the sister. Even got my brother to try for first time with all the kids and they absolutely loved it and everything was spot on, deffo will be ordering again.”

The restaurant offers a range of classic Mexican-inspired dishes, such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and churros.

There are now three Taco Bells in Bradford; in Greengates, the Broadway, and Girlington – London is the only city in the UK with more outlets than Bradford.
