PEOPLE are being offered the chance to explore Bradford and the rest of the North next month thanks to a £1 flash sale by Northern rail.

The rail operator has made more than one million advance purchase tickets available for just £1 today – plus children’s tickets for just 50p.

People can use the cheap tickets to explore its network and the many cities, towns and villages along it between September 6 and October 22.

Northern has said people will be able to see the improvements it has made to its carriages and services in the past 18 months by using the tickets offered in the flash sale.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has put 101 new trains onto the railways, refurbished its older trains, and invested millions of pounds in station improvements, including improved accessibility features and the installation of more than 600 ticket machines.

Mark Powles, Northern’s customer and commercial director, said: “The past 18 months have been tough for all and, as things begin to return to normal, we wanted to give our customers the chance to explore all the North has to offer for the best possible value.

“It also gives our customers the chance to see, first-hand, the palpable improvements we’ve made while they’ve been away.

“Our trains, stations and ticket buying options have never been better and, together with our staff, we are ready to help people across the North to Go Do Your Thing.”

People can book the tickets in advance on Northern’s website or using its mobile app.
