WITH UK holidays booming this summer, we’ve taken a trip into the past at popular Yorkshire seaside resorts Scarborough and Bridlington.

Youngsters are pictured in 1991 enjoying a ride at South Bay Amusements, overlooking the harbour, and enjoying donkey rides on the beach.

The South Bay sea front is also pictured in 1976, with a selection of ice-cream parlours, gift shops and amusements that wouldn't look out of place today.

Over in Brid, what greater thrill than a big slide at the seaside? Bet those youngsters, pictured in 1987, could have spent all day on that mega slide.

Bridlington beach is pictured in 1982, with holiday-makers enjoying the east coast sunshine. Overseas package holidays were big business in the early Eighties, but it seems people were still enjoying the sands closer to home back then.

Families are also pictured enjoying children’s rides on Bridlington sea front back in 1983.
