A MAN who labelled judges “devils” has been jailed for eight years at Bradford Crown Court for repeatedly breaching court orders by posting YouTube videos containing information he was banned from revealing.

Elavi Dowie was sentenced in his absence this week after a jury found him guilty of four breaches of a restraining order and four breaches of a non-molestation order.

Dowie, 53, of Preesall Road, Preston, left the trial part-way through and was jailed in his absence after being offered the opportunity to take part in the proceedings via a video link to the prison where he is detained.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Richard Mansell QC, made further orders to protect the anonymity of the main female complainant in the case.

During the trial, the jury were shown various YouTube videos uploaded by Dowie in which he disclosed details of court proceedings.

Judge Mansell labelled him “narcissistic, controlling and manipulative”.

He said the breaches of the protective court orders were serious and persistent.

In one YouTube video, Dowie branded judges “devils.”

“This is clear evidence, if it was necessary, that you have absolutely no intention of complying with the terms of any non-molestation or restraining order made by the courts,” Judge Mansell said.

Dowie had made false allegations against two men in another video and had also uploaded an illegal mobile phone audio recording of part of a court hearing before a district judge.

He carried on committing breaches after being arrested and bailed and described judges as “corrupt” in an email he sent to over 300 people.

Judge Mansell said Dowie had “orchestrated” a small crowd of people to turn up at Bradford Crown Court to attend his trial.

They were denied access to the building and another man who had posted details about the trial on Facebook was also excluded.
