THE jury in the Ricardo Linton murder trial has been sent home after a second day of deliberating their verdicts at Bradford Crown Court.

Mr Justice Lavender told them not to talk about the case when he sent them home just before 5pm.

They will resume their deliberations at 10am tomorrow.

Linton, 45, denies murdering Mohammed Basharat by shooting him dead in the offices of Little Horton Private Hire on Park Lane, Bradford, on October 20, 2001.

He further pleads not guilty to attempting to murder another taxi driver, Jamshad Khan, on the same day.

Mr Basharat, 33, died when he was struck by two bullets, in the head and the mouth. The gunman then turned his weapon on Mr Khan and pulled the trigger but it failed.

Linton has told the jury he was in London at the time of the murder buying cocaine for a drugs operation he was involved in.

The jurors began their deliberations early yesterday afternoon and were told by Mr Justice Lavender today: “You just take as long as you need.”

The trial continues.
