A WOMAN has been jailed for stealing a range of items including chocolate and cleaning products from shops in the Bradford district.

Jamela Hands, 43, of Brooklyn Road, Cleckheaton, was jailed for a total of 24 weeks.

Her offences, which she pleaded guilty to, were so serious because they were a combination of offences on bail and failure to answer bail.

She was committed to prison for eight weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing cleaning products, worth a total of £82.93, from Home Bargains, Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton, on March 29, 2021.

Hands was jailed for eight weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing various household items worth £360, from B&M, Dale Street, Ossett, on March 16, 2021.

She was committed to prison for eight weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing chocolates worth £30, from Home Bargains, Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton, on March 19, 2021.

She was jailed for eight weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing cleaning products, worth a total of £136.74, from Home Bargains, Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton, on March 27, 2021.

Hands was committed to prison for eight weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing grocery items worth a total of £33.72, from Home Bargains, Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton, on March 16, 2021.

She was handed an eight-weeks jail term, to run concurrently, for stealing dairy products worth a total of £45.75, from Tesco Superstore, Northgate, Cleckheaton, on March 29, 2021.

Hands was committed to prison for four weeks, to run concurrently, for failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time.

She failed, without reasonable cause, to surrender to custody at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court on June 17, 2021, having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on May 11, 2021.

Hands appeared before Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on July 1, 2021.
