A BRADFORD TV doctor has urged teenagers to get the Covid vaccine.

Dr Amir Khan has backed the drive to get 16 or 17-year-olds to receive the jab, but encouraged them to tell their parents first.

Walk-ins are open to older teenagers in Northern Ireland, while GP appointments are being offered in England, just two days after it was announced the vaccine rollout was being extended to 16 and 17-year-olds.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine programme today, he said: “Consent is an issue here.

“Anyone aged 16 or 17 don’t need to get parental consent to get the vaccine, but it’s good practise to tell people what you’re doing.

“From September, nightclubs will require people to be double vaccinated.

“Young people come forward to get the vaccine.”
