A new exhibition in Bradford City Centre has opened this month that aims to explore new ways of thinking.
It wants to raise awareness of issues primarily relevant to our time, such as the climate crisis, youth violence, and queer culture to remind people that there is always an alternative.
Sonia Sandhu, one of the artists said: “Our artwork is a visual ode to queer people, further marginalised by their race, who have lived, and continue to live, proudly in their identities in a society that says they are ‘other’.The exhibition is a statement that LGBTQ+ people of colour exist and belong, right here in Bradford.”
The artworks have been co-created with people who have live experience of the subjects that the artists are exploring by collaborating with groups such as SHADE Youth Group (a group for queer young people of colour).
The exhibition is being supported by Arts Council England and features artwork from 9 different artists from the Bradford area.
It takes place at Common Space, every Tuesday-Saturday from 12-5 pm from Tue 22nd July to 21st August
