AN 18 year old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court today (Monday) charged with murder following last week's stabbing in Aireville Park, Skipton.

The man, from Huddersfield, was arrested at the weekend following police searches in West Yorkshire.

He was charged with one count of murder and appeared at York Magistrates’ Court earlier today.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday (August 4).

The victim, a man in his 40s, was found in Aireville Park on Wednesday evening with stab wounds.

Three other men who were arrested as part of the investigation have been released in relation to the murder. Investigations are continuing in relation to alleged drug related offences.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Steve Menzies of the North Yorkshire Police Major Investigation Team, has reassured the community that it is being treated as an isolated incident, meaning there is no threat to the public.

He added: “However, if anyone has information, no matter how insignificant they think it may be, then I urge them to get in touch.”
