WEST Yorkshire Police has responded after footage emerged on social media of a man being detained in Bradford.
It was claimed the video showed a police officer punching the man.
A force spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus that officers attended Denham Mount, Holme Wood, just after 9pm on Thursday, on arrest enquiries for a male who was wanted on warrant and for offences of criminal damage.
They said: “The male resisted arrest and ran off from police officers, who then requested assistance from colleagues. He began to threaten officers, continuing to resist arrest, PAVA spray was deployed and he continued to resist arrest.”
The man was arrested on Horsham Road and taken into custody.
West Yorkshire Police said it was aware of a video circulating on social media.
A spokesperson said: “Footage of the incident was captured in its entirety on body worn cameras on the officers present and has been reviewed and a referral has been made to the force’s Professional Standards Directorate for them to review.”
- Daniel Lowther, 32, from Bradford, has now been charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of assaulting an emergency worker.
