PRE-SEASON continued for our local women's teams, as they prepare for the forthcoming season.

Bradford Park Avenue were due to open their pre-season programme on Sunday (August 1) with a double bill at Horsfall Stadium.

But the firsts' much anticipated game with Sheffield Wednesday has now been cancelled.

Their new development side, who were due to face Huddersfield Amateur Reserves before that game at noon, are now playing Amaranth instead.

That will be played at Field Sports and Social Club on Hollingwood Lane

Brighouse Town went 3–0 up at FC United of Manchester, through Dani Whitham, Ellie White and Amy Woodruff, going on to a 6–0 victory.

Farsley Celtic have had mixed fortunes against National League opposition in South Yorkshire.

At Sheffield FC, the Celts held out, in a tense game after Rach White had put them in front. However at Barnsley, they were 2–0 down at half-time, going on to lose 10–0.

Ilkley Town took on Harrogate Town at Ben Rhydding. Despite a solid performance, the Baht’atters lost 6–2 to their Regional Premier opponents.

Thackley First won 4–0 at a new-look Morley Town, for their first game under their new management team of James Greaves and David Bray.

Morley striker Jess Young as stand-in goalkeeper made several good saves.

Lois Cooper scored a hat-trick and Lauren Nicholls the other, with central defender ’Ness Holroyd picking up Player of the Match.

Thackley Reserves were playing their first game under new manager Jess Mallison for their 1–1 draw with Farsley Junior Reserves.

There were many chances in a fairly-even first half, but Chloë Sunter put Farsley in front before the break.

Thackley never gave up and dominated the second half, soon equalising through a Hope Nicol header. There were late chances for the hosts’ Meg Schofield, Becky Teale and ’Tash Williams, but both managers were pleased with their teams’ efforts.

Thackley are at Skipton Town on Sunday.
