BRADFORD and Bingley are searching for their second consecutive league victory this weekend as they prepare to host bottom placed Batley.

The Bradford side will be going into the tie with renewed confidence after picking up a crucial home victory against Cleckheaton last time out- a side who only sit one below them in ninth.

For B&B, it's all about escaping the drop zone at the minute as they sit three places above it, however, they have a game-in-hand on three out of the four sides below them.

With seven games remaining, they've now created a 23-point gap between themselves and those placed in the relegation zone and surely a game against the bottom placed side couldn't have come at a better time.

Consistency is key for Ed Brown's side as they come into the season's home straight and Brown is hoping they can translate performances into victory in order to escape the drop.

He said: "It is a massive opportunity this weekend to get the points. We won at their place in a tight-ish game and at home our wicket has been playing very well, very flat and the outfield is quick so for our batters, it's a good opportunity.

"We haven't had a 100 score-run this year so if one of our top five batters get in, then we should really be cashing in and getting a hundred to hopefully win us the game.

"It's not going to be an easy game but it's definitely a chance for us to show some consistency after we won last week and stretch away from that bottom two.

"Mathematically, we are still in with a chance of going down. We don't think we are going to go down but there is always a chance so we need to be on our game straight from the first minute.

"Hopefully the weather is okay because like I say, we are confident of a victory but we still need to go out and perform."

Brown added: "It has been a very funny league.

"Obviously we've got a game in hand against Woodlands because of the Covid situation but if you get on a bit of a run with seven games to go in the league then we could probably find ourselves in the top five.

"We've got to play everyone above us coming up so it's a bit of an interesting one.

"Whilst we are in a relegation fight, if we do get on a roll then we could end up somewhere near the top five. That's certainly the aim at the minute; to find consistency, win as many games as possible then see where we end up."

Ex captain Gaz Philips is returning to the side to step in for injured players and Brown is delighted with the return of the former player.

He said: "I'm happy he has come in. He's helping out when we've got a player missing but he's quality and got good experience."
