A BRADFORD district MP has welcomed the announcement 504 police officers have been recruited in West Yorkshire since September 2019,
The latest figures, which bring the total number of officers in the region up to 5,690, are part of the Government’s drive to get 20,000 more police officers on the street by 2023.
In total, an extra 9,814 police officers have been recruited across all 43 police forces in England and Wales, bringing the total number to 138,574.
Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore said: “The 504 extra police officers for West Yorkshire will help to cut crime, keep neighbours secure and reassure the law-abiding majority that they are safe. Crime is one of the main issues about which constituents contact me. That is why the Government is prioritising reducing crime with a whole range of new measures."
