A HANDFUL of pubs in the Bradford district are in the running for Yorkshire Favourite Pub, with only a few days left to vote for your most-loved boozer.

The competition is being run by the county’s tourism board Welcome to Yorkshire, aiming to find the county’s top pub after what has been a tough year and a half for the pub industry.

There are 30 pubs in the running for the contest, with voting open until Thursday, July 29, before the winner is announced on Yorkshire Day – Sunday August 1.

A handful of pubs in the Bradford district are in the running for the prize, with a few more in the Bradford area also nominated as the county’s favourite.

Pubs have been among the hardest hit businesses by the Covid-19 pandemic which began last March, forced to shut their doors for months on end, and up until July 19 they could only open for a limited time under limited circumstances.

Since pubs reopened there has been a rush back to the boozer, with people keen to support their favourite pubs after months of uncertainty and financial problems.

These are the pubs in the Bradford district which are in the vote:

  • Airedale Heifer, Bradford Road, Riddlesden
  • Boltmakers Arms, East Parade, Keighley
  • The Marquis of Granby, Hospital Road, Riddlesden
  • The Goat’s Head, Skipton Road, Steeton
  • The Inn at Eastburn, Main Road, Eastburn, Steeton

In surrounding areas, these pubs are also in the running:

  • The Cock and Bottle, Swadford Street, Skipton
  • Elm Tree Inn, Elm Tree Square, Embsay, Skipton
  • Shibden Mill Inn, Blake Hill, Northowram

Previous winners of the prize include Pickering’s The White Horse Inn, The Durham Ox in York, Shibden Mill Inn, The Fleece Countryside Inn in Ripponden, The Lister Arms in Malham, and The White Swan and Ampleforth.

You can vote for your favourite by visiting Yorkshire.com/pub-2021 before July 29.
