Around 64 acres of crop were damaged by fire believed to have been caused by a spark from a combine harvester yesterday (Wednesday).
Multiple crews from Malton, Helmsley, Pickering, Thirsk and Huntington responded to the fire in a field of standing crops at High Back Side, Pickering at 3.43pm.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "Fire breaks were created around the crops using the farmer’s plough to stop the fire spread. Six hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera were used."
